THE TOP TEN REASONS TO MAKE GAY MARRIAGE ILLEGAL

1. Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2. Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4. Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn’t changed, like many of the principles on which this great country was founded: women are still property, blacks still can’t marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of marriages like Britney Spears’ 55-hour, just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6. Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn’t be allowed to marry, because our orphanages aren’t full yet and the world will implode without more children.

7. Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That’s why we have only one religion in America.

9. Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That’s why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay marriage will change the foundation of society, and we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

After threatening to discontinue their social services through Catholic Charities because of the same-sex marriage bill in Washington D.C, other religious leaders are calling out the Catholic church for their disgraceful actions.Reverend Dr. Dennis W. Is SkyWest Airlines Discriminating Against Gay Employees … Because of Mormon Rules?

Gilbert Caldwell and David Farrell are one of those rare species: a legally married couple under California state law. (Together they represent 0.0055556 percent of their kind.) Together for three years and domestic partners since 2002, they wed in June 2008, before Prop 8 shut things down a year ago this week. So how come Cadwell, 56, isn't able to offer Farrell, 72, free flights on the airline SkyWest, his employer that offers that very perk to hetero married couples?

Good question! And it's one this duo want answered, since state law requires legally married gay couples and domestic partnerships to be treated the same as hetero married couples in things like housing, insurance, and, yep, employment.

Working for SkyWest since 2004, Caldwell, a baggage agent based in Palm Springs, is only able to score discounted flights for Farrell, but not free ones like he'd be able to if Farrell were his bride. Which has the couple weighing a discrimination lawsuit against the airline if it doesn't change its policy.

SkyWest, meanwhile, maintains that Farrell is Cladwell's "travel companion." You know, like carry-on baggage or a small dog. The airline also argues that its regional partner, Delta, refuses to grant equal benefits to gay spouses. (Caldwell sent both airlines letters asking for clarification.) Though as the Cladwell's Lambda Legal attorney Tara Borelli notes (and the SF Chronicle paraphrases), "SkyWest's explanation is hard to believe because Delta has a policy of treating its own gay and lesbian employees equally."

Now, it's a complete coincidence that SkyWest, which flies to more than 150 cities in North America, is based in the Mormon state of Utah, right? And that SkyWest's chief executive, Jerry Atkin, is a LDS member himself? Not that we're insinuating all Mormons hate the gays, but a top businessman dubbed a "famous Mormon" would, seemingly, subscribe to the church's anti-gay marriage stance.

UPDATE: Queerty checked the database of Prop 8 donors, and what'd we find? A $5,000 contribution from a an attorney named J. Ralph Atkin from St. George, Utah, where SkyWest is based. (The donation to ProtectMarriage.com was recorded Oct. 28, 2008.) And just who is J. Ralph Atkin? Oh, just the founder of a little airline company called … SkyWest. He retired as CEO in 1991; the company was taken over by Ralph's nephew. His name is, oh, right, Jerry Atkin. Ah, it all makes sense now. (To be clear, Jerry's own name didn't turn up in the donors database.)

Nov. 27 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp., criticized by U.S. lawmakers for its use of corporate jets, asked aviation regulators to block the public’s ability to track a plane it uses.

“We availed ourselves of the option as others do to have the aircraft removed” from a Federal Aviation Administration tracking service, a GM spokesman, Greg Martin, said yesterday in an interview. He declined to discuss why GM made the request.

After donating $1,500 to the Yes on 8 Campaign, Film Independent's Richard Raddon has stepped down as director of the L.A. Film Festival.
Raddon had previously tendered his resignation and the board unanimously refused to accept it, but that bit of political theatre failed to mollify the gay community and the threat of a massive gay boycott turned out to be enough to pressure Raddon to resign for real this time.
A-List gay Hollywood was divided on the issue, according to Queerty, with older directors like Bill Condon arguing that those who donated to Prop. 8 saw it "not as a civil rights issue but a religious one. That is their right. And it is not, in and of itself, proof of bigotry" and younger, indie filmmakers like Gregg Araki countering:
"The bottom line is if he contributed money to a hateful campaign against black people, or against Jewish people, or any other minority group, there would be much less excusing of him. The terrible irony is that he runs a film festival that is intended to promote tolerance and equality."
While conservatives will undoubtedly argue that the threat of boycott's (they'll probably term it something like "angry gay mob forces director from post") will have a chilling effect on those who would speak up with their voices or wallets against marriage equality, our rejoinder is, "Yes, that's the point."
People have a right to speak up and say what they want or donate to a cause, but with that right comes the responsibility to live up to the consequences of their actions. If publicly donating to a cause that stripped the civil rights of many of the people you work with and for makes those people not want to support you or the organization you run, that choice was yours, not theirs. It was Raddon, not the gay community, that put the L.A. Film Festival at risk of a boycott and so, today's resignation was his decision and nobody else's.

Unlikely? More likely because she was a lesbian.

If you read part of this Newsweek profile on Rachel Maddow, it's interesting that somebody with her background would ever have been called an "Unlikely" candidate for TV....more likely they never thought she would suceed due to being unwilling to hide the fact of her lesbianism.

The greatest media-created cliché about Maddow has been that her "meteoric rise" has been almost accidental, that the truck-driving, yard-clearing, erstwhile activist became an "unlikely" star once the MSNBC heads recognized her potential. That's clearly a fiction.
Her résumé is impressive: she studied public policy at Stanford before winning a Rhodes scholarship to undertake a Ph.D. in political science. While completing her thesis, Maddow worked odd jobs—unloading trucks, landscaping, stamping coffee packets—before entering a competition on local radio. She was offered a job that day. In 2004, she got her own show on Air America, which still airs nightly. Before long, the cable-TV networks anointed her as one of their favorite leftist pundits, and not long after that, MSNBC star Keith Olbermann pressured his bosses to give Maddow her own show. Maddow's partner, artist Susan Mikula, believes the "unlikely" label is just code for lesbian: "She goes from Stanford to Oxford to activism to radio, then TV? What's so unusual about that? Is it because she is a gay lady?"

Fred Karger, founder of Californians Against Hate, accuses the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of failing to report the value of work it did to support Proposition 8.
A representative from the Salt Lake City-based church could not be reached for comment.

Facing an increasingly ominous economic outlook, President-elect Barack Obama and other Democrats are rapidly ratcheting up plans for a massive fiscal stimulus program that could total as much as $700 billion over the next two years.

That amount, more than the nation has spent over the past six years in Iraq, would rival the sum Congress committed last month to rescuing the country's financial system. It would also be one of the biggest public spending programs aimed at jolting the economy since President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal.
Hints of a hefty new spending program began emerging last week. New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine (D), an Obama adviser, and Harvard economist Lawrence H. Summers, whom Obama has chosen to lead his White House economic team, both raised the possibility of $700 billion in new spending. Yesterday, Obama adviser and former Clinton administration Labor secretary Robert Reich and Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) also called for spending in the range of $500 billion to $700 billion.

While Obama has set a goal of creating or preserving 2.5 million jobs by 2011, his economic team -- whose members are scheduled to be formally introduced at a news conference today in Chicago -- have yet to decide how that would be accomplished or how much it would cost.

Dividing one number by the other, that works out to $280,000 per job. By that ridiculous logic hell, why not just cut checks for $70,000 each to 10 million people, at least you know the money is getting there rather than just going into a secretive black hole in a floundering company.

Look, the large group "The Human Rights Campaign" actually tried to prevent some of the gay marriage lawsuits from going foreward. They claimed that if we just sat on our hands and waited eventually everybody would just be fine. They wanted us to concentrate on ENDA, which they have been trying to pass for 10 years now. So if we had listened to them, we would not have marriage in Massachusetts, nor Marriage acceptance in New York, nor now in Ct. Look, I'm sure that Rosa Parks grandmother would have told her. "Rosa, don't stir up trouble, things will be fine if you just sit back there and stay quiet. Don't worry, eventually things will be different.
So basically, these large groups, with their huge parties where everybody jostles to have their picture taken with Rosie O'Donnell and care more about what wine is served than about securing our rights are like grandparents. You can appriciate their lives without reliving them yourself. The people that can pay $2000 to go to an HRC dinner, aren't concerned as much about the protections needed by a gay couple in West Virginia. they can pay lawyers to draw up contracts and take care of all that. So they also don't mind that 98% of that money raised by HRC will go to paying off the mortgage on their gigantic new office building in downtown Washington, and on the inflated staff salaries they pay. Again, the times, they are a-changing, and these large organizations have been sitting on their heels living off our donations and doing nothing for far too long.

President-elect Barack Obama will not move for months, and perhaps not until 2010, to ask Congress to end the military's decades-old ban on open homosexuals in the ranks, two people who have advised the Obama transition team on this issue say.
Repealing the ban was an Obama campaign promise. However, Mr. Obama first wants to confer with the Joint Chiefs of Staff and his new political appointees at the Pentagon to reach a consensus and then present legislation to Congress, the advisers said.

The only thing that takes some of the sting out is thinking of what McCain would have done if he had won.

I just received a call from my sister in CA. She is a registered republican, very conservative and she voted NO on Prop 8. One of her friends, a very nice lady who happens to be Mormon told her that she voted YES on 8 because it was not only about gay marriage, that she had been told by her church that if Prop 8 passed that all churches refusing to perform gay weddings would lose their tax exempt status. This is absolutly untrue. In the same way that the gays are not allowed to march in the St. Patricks Day parade in NYC, and the boyscouts do not have to accept gays as members or scout leaders, no church can be forced to break it's rules with regard to membership and acceptance. I point to the fact that the Mormon Church itself did not let blacks become full members until 1978. That was LONG after the civil rights laws were passed, yet the church was allowed to prevent blacks from joining. They themselves decided to change that rule, they were not forced by the government....just as they would not be forced to performm gay weddings. The Church leaders know this, but they long ago determined that there is no reason to be honest with their congregations of a simple lie will enable them to get their way.

I have this message for the Mormon church......If you have to lie to back up your position, perhaps your position is not worth backing up.

Black and gay: The overturning of same-sex marriages in California has triggered a wave of resentment in the gay community, some of it aimed at African Americans.
Blacks turned out in droves to vote for Barack Obama for president. Unfortunately for gays, exit polls show that many of them also voted for Proposition 8.
Just last Sunday, Third Baptist Church minister and former San Francisco Supervisor Rev. Amos Brown - a veteran of the civil rights battles of the 1960s - launched into a sermon about the need to protect the rights of gays.
Suddenly, a young associate minister seated in the front row stormed the pulpit, grabbed a microphone and began lecturing Brown about the need to "just preach the Gospel and leave that other stuff alone."
Brown snatched the microphone from the man, who was quickly escorted out.
"There are African Americans who ... feel the white gays haven't stood with them on issues like social justice, education and housing," Brown said.
On the other hand, Brown also knows the black community was slow to offer support to gays at the outset of the AIDS crisis in the 1980s.
Brown warned the ugliness will continue if cooler heads don't prevail.
"What this man did storming the church pulpit was just the tip of the iceberg," he said

Rev. Amos Brown is an outspoken gay rights advocate, AND a reverend in an African American Church. THIS is who the Ca. gay groups need to have doing outreach. Why have they not contacted him?!? Come on people, lets move on this! :)

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) The California Supreme Court has overturned the state's gay marriage ban. The move would make the nation's largest state the second one to allow gay and lesbian weddings. The ruling states domestic partnerships are not a good enough substitute for marriage.

Now that they don't have to pass a law legalizing gay Marriage, perhaps the legislature in CA. can pass a law that extreamly obviously gay celebbrities will no longer be taken seriously when they make comments like "I'm just too busy working to date right now" or "I just haven't met the right girl yet".

The fish that can survive for months in a tree

It's one of the golden rules of the natural world – birds live in trees, fish live in water.

The trouble is, no one bothered to tell the mangrove killifish.

Scientists have discovered that it spends several months of every year out of the water and living inside trees.

Adaptable: The killifish can alter the way it breathes

Hidden away inside rotten branches and trunks, the remarkable creatures temporarily alter their biological makeup so they can breathe air.

Biologists studying the killifish say they astonished it can cope for so long out of its natural habitat.

The discovery, along with its ability to breed without a mate, must make the mangrove killifish, Rivulus marmoratus Poey, one of the oddest fish known to man.

Around two inches long, they normally live in muddy pools and the flooded burrows of crabs in the mangrove swamps of Florida, Latin American and Caribbean.

The latest discovery was made by biologists wading through swamps in Belize and Florida who found hundreds of killifish hiding out of the water in the rotting branches and trunks of trees.

The fish had flopped their way to their new homes when their pools of water around the roots of mangroves dried up. Inside the logs, they were lined up end to end along tracks carved out by insects.

Dr Scott Taylor of the Brevard County Environmentally Endangered Lands Programme in Florida admitted the creatures were a little odd.

"They really don't meet standard behavioural criteria for fish," he told New Scientist magazine.

Although the cracks inside logs make a perfect hiding place, conditions can be cramped. The fish – which are usually fiercely territorial – are forced to curb their aggression.

Another study, published earlier this year, revealed how they alter their bodies and metabolism to cope with life out of water.

Their gills are altered to retain water and nutrients, while they excrete nitrogen waste through their skin.

These changes are reversed as soon as they return to the water.

Previously their biggest claim to fame was that they are the only known vertebrate – animal with a backbone – to reproduce without the need for a mate.

Killifish can develop both female and male sexual organs, and fertilise their eggs while they are still in the body, laying tiny embryos into the water.

They are not the only fish able to breathe air. The walking catfish of South-east Asia has gills that allow it to breathe in air and in water.

The climbing perch of India can suffocate in water unless it can also gulp in air.

I believe that the term "Exaustion" is no longer used by celeb publicists since several doctors were quoted as saying that there was no such thing as being admitted to a hospital for "Exaustion" and it was most likely a code word for an overdose.

NBC should get down on its knees and make a giant no vena of thanks that soccer star David Beckham was called back to Europe before it could finish filming his relentlessly self-promoting wife's reality series, "Victoria Beckham: Coming to America."
And, while we're at it, the aforementioned relentlessly self-promoting wife should do the same.
If this weren't a one-shot deal and people were exposed to her vapid, condescending behavior on a weekly basis, she'd not just be unwelcome in America, she'd be run out on a rail - whatever that means.
Anyway, the proposed series, now downsized to a one-hour "special," is an orgy of self-indulgence so out of whack with, er, reality that you'll sit there slack-jawed at the gall of these people who think we are that stupid.
What's shocking is that it's from Simon Fuller, the "American Idol" genius.
The Beckhams drive to become as famous in the U.S. as they are in the U.K. is driven, of course, by Beck's signing a $250 million (yes, million) contract to play for the LA Galaxy soccer team. Good luck.
Until soccer can have as many commercials as football, baseball or basketball, it will never be covered as big time on U.S. TV. And without soccer taking hold, I don't think they will ever achieve their dreamed-of status as the most famous couple in the U.S.
Tonight's special opens with Victoria - a former Spice Girl who had the great, good fortune to marry the world's best looking man - fretting over how much she has to do to prepare to move to America. She's got to find a house and a manicurist! Oh, the pressure.
The announcer then informs us that everything we thought about Victoria Beckham is probably wrong! Really?
I, for one, have never thought anything about Beckham - and now, I think even less.
She frets that there are paparazzi at the airport to meet her - as though it weren't all set up. "Maybe they thought Madonna was on the plane," she says displaying modesty that is about as real as her hair color. Dear God.
She then introduces us to her "best friends" who, like poor Paula Abdul's, are on her payroll - the hairdresser and the makeup artist who travel with her.
She then goes to a set-up luncheon with "The Beverly Hills Socialites" club at this nightmarishly overdone rococo mansion filled with much older women - all blondes - who have so much unfortunate plastic surgery they look truly frightening. Sad. Really sad - but then again who is Beckham to come here and make fun of these women by pretending not to?
For reasons I hope never to understand, Marla Maples is there too - the youngest by about 40 years.
Beckham, who is bizarrely constantly posing even in her own home, offers insights about how major a certain purse is or how her new phone has changed her life.
Her entourage laughs at everything she says as though they were hanging with Dave Chappelle, and clings to her every thought as though she were Stephen Hawking.
The "special" which NBC calls an "exclusive" inside look at Victoria's larger-than-life life smacks of too much fame, too much money and too much time spent believing the hype for all concerned.

Fifteen models were kicked out of a Rome fashion show late Tuesday for being too thin, sparking new debate on anorexia in the fashion industry.
"I asked that girls with abnormal measurements shouldn't work ... (and) had to fire 15 who were under (French) size 36 (US size eight)," Raffaella Curiel told reporters.
"One girl fainted during the trials," he said, adding, "I had to give her a ham sandwich."
Curiel said his fashion house wanted to respect rules developed in December to combat anorexia among fashion models, but added: "It's not our fault if (agencies) send us girls who are too skinny."
Under the new rules, girls under 16 cannot take to the catwalk, and models must produce a certificate proving that they have no eating disorders.

It's fantastic that Rev. Hutcherson's pro-discrimination ballot initiative died a sad, lonely death recently. The fortunes of domestic partnerships in our state are on the rise, Democratic Presidential candidates seem to have their gay houses more or less in order and Seattle Pride just wrapped up its second go-round Downtown. Things seem to be looking up, but Seattlest likes to judge which way the wind blows by figuring out where the money goes. The local money is in Redmond. Er, Medina... Meaning Bill Gates has it. And he's investing it in PlanetOut to the tune of $26.2 million via his private investment firm Cascade Investment LLC.
PlanetOut owns legendary hook-up site Gay.com, RSVP Vacations, The Advocate (which just published a "best gay places to live" list that does not include Seattle), as well as Out magazine and a bunch of other publications, each one gayer than the last. PlanetOut has been struggling, according to the P-I's John Cook, and Gates is swooping in as an investing angel. It may or may not be the big sociological indicator we want it to be, but at least it keeps the doors open at PlanetOut.

The rival Palestinian factions are now engaged in a war of words through their respective media. A Fatah-run TV station has condemned Hamas’ “dark coup” in the Gaza Strip and Hamas’s al-Aqsa TV says the organization “liberated” Gaza from “Fatah occupation.”
The Hamas network added that they have “proof of homosexual relations between Fatah officials.”
Meanwhile, a prominent Palestinian journalist from Gaza has sought political asylum in Norway. Seif al-Din Shahin, the correspondent for the Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya news channel, has fled Gaza together with his family, after receiving death threats.
A campaign is also apparently being waged by Fatah against Al-Arabiya’s rival, Al-Jazeera. Fatah leaders have called for closing down the Al-Jazeera offices in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, accusing the Qatari-owned TV station of serving as “a mouthpiece for Hamas” and other radical Islamic groups.
“Al-Jazeera is openly biased in favor of Hamas,” said Yasser Abed Rabbo, a senior Fatah figure. “This station must be banned from working in the Palestinian territories.”

Interesting isn't it? Israel pulls back and they start attacking each other. Dare one go against conventional PC wisdom and actually suggest that the Palestinians are responsible for the violence? Who else can you blame since this battle is between Fatah and Hamas?

Sources tell me that the Jacksons are in the process of contacting Thomas Mesereau, the superstar criminal lawyer who won Jackson an acquittal two years ago in his child molestation trial.
The word from the Jacksons is that they’ve met several times as a family and discussed bringing Mesereau in for an intervention to save Michael.
Mesereau, who did not return calls to this column, is said to be open to finding out what Jackson’s true mental and health status is at this point. If he doesn’t like what he sees, the Jacksons will ask him to do something legal to save their brother’s life.
Jackson, according to insiders, is in perilous health right now. There is talk that his liver is damaged and that he’s been seen vomiting blood, although there’s no confirmation of that.
What has been confirmed is that Jackson — whose penchant for prescription meds and alcohol is well-known — is depressed, alone and mixing ingredients instead of making a new album or working.

For instance: this column has now learned that Bain has brought Rev. Jesse Jackson on in some kind of executive capacity in Michael’s businesses.
Bain and Jesse Jackson have a long relationship, so this is no surprise. But two years ago, Mesereau — sensing trouble — removed Bain and asked Jesse Jackson to leave after he arrived in Santa Maria, Calif., to grandstand at Michael’s trial.
It was Jesse Jackson who two years ago caused an avalanche in Michael’s finances. Jesse Jackson, sources say, interfered in Michael’s business by attempting to call Bank of America president Ken Lewis to complain that Michael was being “ripped off” in some way over his $270 million.
Lewis refused to speak with Jesse Jackson. He was so annoyed by Jackson’s interference that he ordered the banker in charge of the account to sell the loans to Fortress Investments.
The result was a sale and subsequent refinancing that put Jackson another $50 million in the red. Jesse Jackson at the time had convinced Michael that business partners Alvin Malnik and Charles Koppelman’s plan to bail out the singer was no good.
But in hindsight, he was wrong. Under the original plan, Jackson would only have sold half his interest in the Beatles’ catalog to Sony. Now, next May, thanks to the Fortress deal, he will have to dispose of all of it.

A judge ruled Monday in favor of a dry cleaner that was sued for $54 million over a missing pair of pants.
The owners of Custom Cleaners did not violate the city's Consumer Protection Act by failing to live up to Roy L. Pearson's expectations of the "Satisfaction Guaranteed" sign that was once placed in the store window, District of Columbia Superior Court Judge Judith Bartnoff ruled.
Bartnoff ordered Pearson to pay the court costs of defendants Soo Chung, Jin Nam Chung and Ki Y. Chung.

Roy L. Pearson, the judge who sued the cleaners said they needed to pay for a rental car for him for the next ten years so he could get to another cleaners amoung other ridiculous requests. Additionally the cleaners first offered him $3,000, then $12,000 to get him to drop the case against them. All over a lost pair of pants. Turns out he had massive credit card debt etc... Nice to see that the court slapped him down. Additionally it has now been recomended that he not be reappointed to another term as judge. Sounds like some people in Washington DC have common sense.....too bad more of them aren't in congress. ;)

Pentagon Confirms It Sought To Build A 'Gay Bomb'

WASHINGTON (AP) - Jessica Cutler, the former Senate aide whose online sex diary landed her a book deal and a Playboy photo spread but got her kicked off Capitol Hill, has filed for bankruptcy.
Cutler, a former aide to then-Sen. Mike DeWine, R-Ohio, created the "Washingtonienne" blog in 2004 and began posting racy details about her sex life with six men, including a Senate colleague and "a few generous older gentlemen" who she said paid many of her living expenses.
When the blog was discovered, Cutler was fired. She moved to New York, wrote a novel based on the scandal, posed naked and started a new Web site that describes herself as "a published author who jumps out of cakes for money."
Under the occupation heading of her Web site, it reads: "I'm freelancing."
Cutler has spent much of her time fending off a lawsuit by ex- boyfriend and fellow DeWine staffer Robert Steinbuch, who claims Cutler's blog publicly humiliated him. He is seeking more than $20 million in damages.
In court documents filed in the case Thursday, however, Cutler says she can't even pay her American Express bill, legal fees and student loans. She submitted to the judge a copy of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy petition filed in New York dated Wednesday.
The lawsuit is being closely watched by online privacy groups and bloggers because the case could help establish whether people who keep online diaries are obligated to protect the privacy of the people they interact with offline.
Cutler's bankruptcy filing further clouds the fate of a lawsuit already mired in contentious pretrial arguments. A federal judge has encouraged both sides to cooperate and perhaps even settle the case, but both sides are demanding personal information from the other and Steinbuch says he doesn't want to give a videotaped deposition for fear Cutler will put it in on the Internet.
Messages seeking comment were left at the office of Steinbuch's attorney and on Cutler's cell phone.

Susan Ferrando, her husband, their two children and three preteens had come to San Francisco from Redwood City to celebrate the birthday of Ferrando's 11-year-old daughter. They went to Japantown, where they enjoyed shopping and taking in the blooming cherry blossoms.
Things took a turn for the worse at about 9 p.m., when the family was leaving Japantown -- just as the party of about 3,000 bikers was winding down its monthly red-lights-be-damned ride through the city.
Suddenly, Ferrando said, her car was surrounded by hundreds of cyclists.
Not being from San Francisco, Ferrando thought she might have inadvertently crossed paths with a bicycle race and couldn't figure out why the police, who she had just passed, hadn't warned her.
Confusion, however, quickly turned to terror, she said, when the swarming cyclists began wildly circling around and then running into the sides of her Toyota van.
Filled with panic, Ferrando said, she started inching forward until coming to a stop at Post and Gough streets, where she was surrounded by bikers on all sides.
A biker in front blocked her as another biker began pounding on the windshield. Another was pounding on her window. Another pounded the other side.
"It seemed like they were using their bikes as weapons,'' Ferrando said. One of the bikers then threw his bike -- shattering the rear window and terrifying the young girls inside.
All the while, Ferrando was screaming, "There are children in this car! There are children in this car!"
She had the presence of mind to dial 911 on her cell phone -- and within minutes, the squad of motorcycle cops who were assigned to keep an eye on the ride descended on the scene.
The cyclists were loudly demanding that Ferrando be arrested for hit and run.
According to police, Ferrando had allegedly tapped one of the cyclists' tires.
When the alleged bicycle victim was approached, however, he said he wasn't hurt. He also refused to give his name or any other information.
Then, after a few swear words, the alleged victim took off on his bike while the rest of the crowd continued to yell at both the cops and the van.
Sgt. Ed Callejas -- the lead cop on the scene and a veteran of Critical Mass rides since their inception -- said he'd never seen anything like it before.
"I've seen the bikes swarm cars, and scratch them as they go by. I've seen guys get out of their cars and start fighting with the bikers, but if you had seen the faces on those little girls in tears,'' Callejas said. "All I could do was apologize for what they had been through."
The sergeant suggested that Ferrando write a letter to the mayor.
Estimated damage to the car: $5,300.

Of course in San Francisco assualt doesn't seem to be a crime...now if one of the bikers ate red meat it would be a different story.

A suspended Toronto elementary school principal has pleaded guilty to throwing feces (excrement) on a child.
Maria Pantalone, 49, was charged with two counts of assault - one against that child and one against another – but only admitted to one of the charges today.
“I couldn’t take it any more,” she testified, in describing the provocative circumstances leading up to the incident last June 30.
But she agreed it wasn't in any way justified.
Pantalone, who is the sister of Toronto Deputy Mayor Joe Pantalone, was principal of Keele Street Junior Public School and Mountview Alternative, which collectively have 500 students and operate out of the same building near Keele St. and Humberside Ave.
The names of the victims cannot be published owing to a ban imposed by provincial court Justice Howard Borenstein.
Neither were students at her school.
Since being charged last summer, she has been suspended with pay and ordered to stay away from anyone under the age of 16, unless under supervision.
Both Crown prosecutor John Ball and defence lawyer Michael Caroline jointly recommended that she receive an absolute discharge, which will leave her without a criminal record, and enter into a peace bond not to have contact with the two children.
Caroline submitted some 20 letters of support for his client, including one signed by 19 staff members at her school.

Instead of ordering her to stay away from students, seems like they could get the same effect by ordering her not to pick up shit and throw it at people...But thats just a thought.

New research supports growing concerns that herpes plays a role in the development of Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia.
The latest work, announced today, shows a link between a gene and herpes simplex 1, or HSV. The form of the ApoE gene called ApoE-4 is the leading known risk factor for Alzheimer’s. And HSV is the form of herpes that causes cold sores around the mouth. More than 80 percent of Americans are infected with HSV.
The researchers, at the University of Rochester Medical Center, found that ApoE-4 effectively puts out a welcome mat for the herpes virus, allowing it to be more active in the brain.
“The data suggest that ApoE-4 may support the ability of HSV to be a more virulent pathogen,” said Howard Federoff, lead author of the research published online in the journal Neurobiology of Aging.

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - For nearly 20 years _ ever since Pete Costello was 8 _ his mother has collected disability benefits on his behalf. In meetings with Social Security officials and psychologists, he appeared mentally retarded and unable to communicate. His mother insisted he couldn't read or write, shower, take care of himself or drive a car.

But now prosecutors say it was all a huge fraud, and they have video of Costello contesting a traffic ticket to prove it.
"He's like any other person trying to get out of a traffic ticket," Assistant U.S. Attorney Norman Barbosa said Tuesday.
Pete and Rosie Marie Costello were indicted in September on charges of conspiracy to defraud the government and Social Security fraud, and the case was unsealed Tuesday. The Vancouver pair pleaded not guilty in federal court in Tacoma on Tuesday after the case was unsealed. The traffic ticket was deferred.
Barbosa filed with the court two videos of Pete Costello taken this year: In one, he allegedly feigns retardation during an interview with Social Security workers; the other is of him contesting the traffic ticket in a courtroom earlier this year.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — A pit bull registered to tennis star Serena Williams allegedly bit a security guard outside her home last week.
Williams told police she didn't own the dog, but said she was watching Bambi for a friend, a Palm Beach Gardens Police incident report said.
The dog, a 5-year-old tan pit bull, is registered to Williams, Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control assistant director Dennis Yeskey told The Palm Beach Post.
Williams' website shows two photographs of her tan pit bull named Bambi.
A spokeswoman for Williams declined to comment.
Bambi and a white Maltese were roaming around a guardhouse near her home Friday night, when the pit bull nipped at the guard's buttocks. The guard was not injured because his wallet blocked the dog's bite, the incident report said.
The guard traced the dogs back to Williams' home using a phone number listed on the Maltese's dog tag. She later told police the dogs got loose after she let them out. She told police she owned the Maltese, but not the pit bull, the report said.
Animal Care and Control did not have records of Williams owning a Maltese.
Telephone calls placed to Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control were not immediately returned Monday.
A Palm Beach Gardens Police spokeswoman would not comment on the case.

Think it will happen? The odds are against it. Here’s why.
For one thing, Jackson has a "HIStory" of not going through with promises to do shows. For another, he just doesn’t have the team to get him through this event.
Jackson famously backs out of shows, in fact. Eleven years ago next month, Jackson collapsed backstage at the Beacon Theater in New York while rehearsing a show for HBO. He was taken to the hospital and the show was cancelled.
But sources close to Jackson told me recently that the pop star never considered going through with that show, and the whole "collapse" was contrived so he could get out it.
"He called me and said, 'You don’t think I’m really doing it, do you?'" the source recalled.

If Jackson pulls such a stunt on Wednesday, though, the odds are higher on the chances of ruining what’s left of his career. But staging "Thriller" for an international audience, with no actual manager or production company? That doesn’t seem likely. Currently, Jackson’s only managers are his publicist, Raymone Bain, and his children’s nanny, Grace Rwaramba.
"He has no one who’s ever put on a show around him," one critic says.
Watch for Jackson to invoke a bad back or exhaustion, his two most frequent excuses. But don’t expect him to say he had a spider bite. Jackson used that one three years when he was testifying in a breach of contract lawsuit in Santa Maria, Calif. Later, those close to him admitted that the spider bite was concocted to cover for a home injection that had gone badly.

But now the villagers of this tiny, close-knit community have angrily accused the comedian of exploiting them, after discovering his new blockbuster film portrays them as a backward group of rapists, abortionists and prostitutes, who happily engage in casual incest.
They claim film-makers lied to them about the true nature of the project, which they believed would be a documentary about their hardship, rather than a comedy mocking their poverty and isolation.
Villagers say they were paid just £3 each for this humiliation, for a film that took around £27million at the worldwide box office in its first week of release.
Now they are planning to scrape together whatever modest sums they can muster to sue Baron Cohen and fellow film-makers, claiming they never gave their consent to be so cruelly misrepresented.

The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecology has said that "active euthanasia" should be considered to spare parents the emotional and financial burdens of bringing up such children. "A very disabled child can mean a disabled family," it says in a formal submission. "If life-shortening and deliberate interventions to kill infants were available, they might have an impact on obstetric decision-making, even preventing some late abortions, as some parents would be more confident about continuing a pregnancy and taking a risk on outcome."

Her son Daniel is believed to have died from a lethal combination of methadone and other prescription anti-depressants.
In an email to Payne, Anna Nicole says she had sex three times with two people during the time of conception, and that one of the two people couldn't get her pregnant because he had a vasectomy: "well one of two people once in dec and twice in jan............you do the math but I hear someone cant do what has been done." Payne also says Anna Nicole Smith said Howard K. Sumner Redstone has resumed his attack on Tom Cruise, charging in an interview with Vanity Fair that Cruise "was embarrassing the studio. And he was costing us a lot of money." The Viacom chairman peremptorily cut off ties between his Paramount studios and Cruise's production company last August without apparently discussing his decision to do so with then-Viacom chief Tom Freston or Paramount Chairman Brad Grey. However, according to the Vanity Fair interview, he did consult with his wife Paula. "Paula, like women everywhere, had come to hate him. The truth of the matter is, I did listen to her," he said. "His behavior was entirely unacceptable to Paula and to the rest of the world. He just didn't turn one [woman] off. He turned off all women, and a lot of men." Redstone estimated that Cruise's controversial appearances on the Today show, when he chastised interviewer Matt Lauer for being "glib" and on Oprah, when he jumped on Winfrey's couch, cost Paramount "$100 million, $150 million on Mission: Impossible III. It was the best picture of the three, and it did the worst." Redstone concluded that his decision to axe Cruise "sent a message to the rest of the world that the time of the big star getting all this money is over. And it is! I would like to think that what I did, or what we did, has had a salutary effect on the rest of the industry."

First, photo-lifting vanity blogger Perez Hilton got called out on the red carpet by a FilmMagic paparazzo, who accused him of swiping a pic, which appeared to involve a Tommy Lee man-kiss. Now, X17, one of the most popular celebrity photo agencies in the game, has the double-chinned paparazzo punching bag in its legal sites.
"I think we're close to making a decision about how we're going to handle Perez," X17 V.P. Kelly Davis (the one Perez recently called a lying "cunt") tells Radar. She also adds via e-mail that other photo agencies who've been burned by photo-driven celebrity blogs (and perezhilton.com in particular) are getting organized and getting even.
Even celebrity weeklies are lining up against Perez (real name: Mario Lavandeira), says Davis: "One of the head photo editors at a top weekly mag is helping to organize a class action lawsuit against Mario and, in fact, our competition called us yesterday to discuss this."
A successful lawsuit could send a chill through the parasitic celebrity blog community, effectively putting out of business any webmaster who makes his living off of stolen paparazzi photos—and flooding the job market with unemployed fashion assistants and gossip column interns.
Lavandeira, who was working as a rookie gossip reporter before starting his blog, recently told Radar that the paparazzi willingly shared their shots with him and that he helps drum up a higher asking price for them by creating a buzz. A longtime loather of Perez, Davis insists that, while the agency might have failed to crack down on bloggers for copyright infringement initially, it never granted Perez permission to use pictures without paying, crediting, or linking back to the X17 blog (started several months ago in part to publish the agency's own photos before bloggers poach them). Since sending a letter to Hilton demanding he stop using X17's images, Perez has continued to post the occasional shot, and only takes them down after X17 complains.
Online petitioners have long called Perez on his pilfering and, in fact, wished herpes on him. But the hatred seems to be reaching its most actionable level to date. This time, it's just not feeding into his popularity.
Asked in several messages and IMs about stealing photos from X17 and other agencies, an impending lawsuit, and the paparazzi backlash against him, the man who previously answered questions about his past drug use, sexual fetishes, and suicidal thoughts did not respond.

Lindsay was sitting in her parked black Cadillac Escalade and our spy, who was walking his dog, could see Lohan through the tinted windows, "freaking out" and talking on her phone.Then, Lohan called our spy over and told him that two men in a silver Toyota 4Runner -- parked behind her -- had been following her for the last two hours, trying to "hit" her vehicle. Our spy reports that "she seemed out of it," that it appeared she'd been out all night, and that she'd clearly been crying, with mascara running down her face. "I've called the cops," said Lindsay of her alleged pursuers. "But the cops can't catch them."What Lindsay didn't even realize in her reduced state was that the two men in the Toyota were actually paparazzi. Our spy saw them snapping away. Greasy Reese Witherspoon sneered at the compliment like the third grade girl with the most Valentines sneers at the third grade girl with the second most Valentines after all the Valentines have been given out, just prior to the distribution of the holiday cupcakes. Kevin Federline, the self-proclaimed "most underrated performer" in rap, is facing underperforming ticket sales. A source tells us the plug may be pulled on Mr. Britney Spears' performance at Webster Hall this Saturday because there's just no interest. The Hall's event department seemed to think the show was still on last week, but when asked about ticket sales, a rep quipped, "I can't talk about that." Calls and E-mails to Federline's publicist went unanswered.

So, he isn't selling enough tickets to moderately fill Webster Hall. For those of you who don't know, Webster Hall is a dace club in NYC with a seating capacity for concerts of 1400. So in a city, the greater metro area of which holds over 20 million people they can't even find 700 idiots to half fill Webster Hall for K-Feds Show. My faith in the intelligence of the average American is now sky high. Guess he'll have to go back to doing what he did before to earn money.....dating Shar Jackson.

Oct. 30, 2006 — The second dancer in the Duke rape case has said for the first time that the accuser told her to "go ahead, put marks on me" after the alleged attack.
Dancer Kim Roberts made the new allegation — which she has not shared with authorities — in an interview with Chris Cuomo that aired today on "Good Morning America."
Roberts' allegation comes after Durham District Attorney Mike Nifong's admission in court last week that he has not yet interviewed the accuser "about the facts of that night."

As she drove the accuser from the March 2006 Duke lacrosse party, Roberts told ABC News the woman was clearly impaired and "talking crazy."
Roberts said she tried several different times to get the accuser out of her car.
"The trip in that car from the house … went from happy to crazy," Roberts told Cuomo. "I tried all different ways to get through to her."
"I tried to be funny and nice," she said. "Then I tried to, you know, be stern with her. … We're kind of circling around, and as we're doing that, my last-ditch attempt to get her out of the car, I start to kind of, you know, push and prod her, you know."
Roberts said she told the woman, "Get out of my car. Get out of my car."
"I … push on her leg. I kind of push on her arm," Roberts said. "And clear as a bell, it's the only thing I heard clear as a bell out of her was, she said — she pretty much had her head down, but she said plain as day — 'Go ahead, put marks on me. That's what I want. Go ahead.'"
Roberts said the comments "chilled me to the bone, and I decided right then and there to go to the authorities."

So let me get this straight, a stipper who was also a prostitute acoording to reports, with a police record including car theft might be making this attack and asked the 2nd girl to mark her up to possibly sue later for money?!?!!? MSM's Hot Gossip has this to say : Tara Reid has turned lemons into lemonade, or, more specifically, a botched boob job into a job. In the wake of her "Plastic Surgery Nightmare" cover story in Us Weekly, the pie-eyed-inclined punchline's once empty calendar is suddenly crammed with promotional appearances.
On Wednesday, Tara was allowed onto the set of the "Today" show to discuss her ta-ta trauma, but had a spot of trouble when it came to describing the terrifying nip-tuck results.
"It looked like I got completely butchered up," she said of her bloated post-surgery breasts. "The areolas ... they looked like goose-shaped eggs."
Now, as much as we're tickled by the thought of Reid's nippular landscape resembling a web-footed bird, she was obviously going for the more apt "goose-egg shaped."
The confusion continued during her sit-down Thursday on "The View," when she attempted to demonstrate her décolletage damage without actually lifting up her shirt.
"Say this is, like, a piece of paper," began Reid, as she held up a piece of paper, "and this is, like, the nipple ..."
When Joy Behar interrupted and pointed out, "That is a piece of paper, Tara," she barely missed a beat in the telling of her tale of woe.
Reid's interview skills are perhaps a bit rusty given her recent underemployment, although she had better luck describing her equally lamentable liposuction, which left her with a lumpy tummy.

The good news is Reid's recent reconstructive surgery has given her shattered self-confidence a boost. She enthuses to "Access Hollywood," "I feel like a girl again. I walk out of the shower now and it's like, wow, I'm back."
And so is her affection for her onetime fiancé Carson Daly, whom she split with in 2001 after a PDA-packed year of coupledom.
Tara, like her hypermammiferous brethren Courtney Love, who a few days back expressed her regret in not marrying Edward Norton, is wistful about what might have been.

"We have decided to cancel the event ... due to both the poor response of public ticket sales and also due to specific last-minute demands which we find wholly unreasonable," promoter One Events said in a statement yesterday.
"She was making demands like Streisand," a music industry source told the Daily News. "She wanted special spring water, furniture, lighting and armed escorts.
"They told her: 'This is Hong Kong, not the U.S.,' and she said: 'I am not going on.' So they said: 'Fine.'"

Supermodel Naomi Campbell has been arrested in London on suspicion of assault. Sky's crime correspondent Martin Brunt said Campbell was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after a woman walked into a central London police station and made an allegation of assault.
Police arrested the 36-year-old model at a house in Westminster, central London.
She is still being questioned by police, Brunt said.
The Sun newspaper reported that Campbell attacked her drug counsellor.
The paper claimed the therapist made a complaint after she was "scratched all over her face" by the catwalk model.
Campbell is subject to to an ongoing assault case in New York.
She is alleged to have thrown a mobile phone at her housekeeper's head in a row at her Manhattan apartment.
She failed to turn up to a hearing in September and the case was adjourned until November 15.

What comment can I make? This woman knows that every time she crosses her eyes at somebody she gets arrested and she attacks her drug councellor?! That is a gift from the comedy gods. Real estate developer G. Ben Thompson is kicking Anna Nicole Smith out of the house she's been staying in at the Bahamas. Anna was supposed to sign a mortgage to buy the house from him but has refused to do so, playing it off as if the house was a gift. The only reason Anna was given citizenship in the Bahamas was because she established legal residency under the premise she owned a home, but now that Thompson is kicking her out she may have to go back to California where she'll be forced by law to submit to the paternity test filed by photographer Larry Birkhead.
And because this is Anna Nicole Smith the drama doesn't end there. According to sources, she confessed during her pregnancy that Larry Birkhead was the father of her baby. Additionally, late last year she was in a sexual relationship with G. Ben Thompson (the guy kicking her out of the house) and - after finding out about his wealth - told him he was the father of her child. But turns out that's impossible because Thompson had already had a vasectomy.

You can take the girl out of the strip club.......
Seriously though, this one is easy to figure out...she got knocked up by a good looking poor guy, well couldn't have that so tried to convince a rich guy that the kid was his.
